he International Theatre Institute, an international nongovernmental
organization (NGO) was founded in Prague in
1948 by UNESCO and the international theatre community.
The ITI has national centres in over 100 countries. The ITI maintains
formal associate relations with UNESCO and is its principal
international NGO partner in the field of the live performing arts.
ITI has a cooperation and information sharing agreement with
UNESCO, and receives support for certain international projects
from the UNESCO Culture Sector’s Division of Arts and Cultural
Enterprise. The ITI General Secretariat is based at UNESCO House
in Paris. ITI now includes approximately 98 national and associate
ITI Centres which form the basis of the Institute’s membership. An
ITI Centre is made up of professionals active in the theatre life of
the country and representative of all branches of the performing
arts. Its activities are conducted both on a national and international
level. The governing body of the Institute is constituted by
a Congress of members assembled in plenary session. Between
Congresses the Institute is run by the Secretary General based at
the ITI General Secretariat at UNESCO headquarters in Paris and
by an Executive Council composed of elected members, representing
the different continents and Centres of the network.
L’Institut International du Théâtre, une organisation internationale
non gouvernementale (ONG), a été fondé à Prague
en 1948 par l’UNESCO et la communauté théâtrale
internationale. L’IIT dispose de centres nationaux dans plus de
100 pays. L’IIT entretient des relations formelles d’association
avec l’UNESCO et il est son principal partenaire ONG international
dans le domaine des arts de la scène. L’IIT a un accord
d’échange d’informations et de coopération avec l’UNESCO, et
il est assisté pour certains projets internationaux par la Division
des Arts et de l’Entreprise Culturelle du Secteur Culture
de l’UNESCO. Le Secrétariat Général de l’IIT se trouve à la Maison
de l’UNESCO à Paris. L’IIT comprend maintenant près de
98 Centres IIT associés et nationaux qui forment la base des
membres de l’Institut. Un Centre IIT est formé de professionnels
actifs dans la vie théâtrale du pays et représentatifs de toutes
les branches des arts de la scène. Le corps dirigeant de l’Institut
est formé d’un Congrès de membres réunis en session pléniaire.
Entre deux congrès, l’Institut est dirigé par le secrétaire
général qui se trouve au siège de l’UNESCO à Paris et par un
Conseil Exécutif composé de membres élus, représentant les
différents continents et centres du réseau.

iędzynarodowy Instytut Teatralny (International Theatre
Institute –UNESCO), międzynarodowa organizacja pozarządowa
(NGO), założony został w Pradze w roku 1948 przez UNESCO
i międzynarodową społeczność teatralną. Krajowe centra ITI znajduja
się w ponad 100 państwach. ITI jest formalnie zrzeszony z UNESCO,
będąc jego głównym partnerem wśród międzynarodowych organizacji
pozarządowych w dziedzinie żywego spektaklu. ITI łączy z UNESCO
umowa o współpracy i wzajemnej informacji; część projektów
międzynarodowych Instytutu wspierana jest przez UNESCO (Sektor
Kulturalny, Dział Przedsięwzięć z Zakresu Kultury i Sztuki). Sekretariat
Generalny ITI mieści sie w siedzibie UNESCO w Paryżu. Obecnie
ITI zrzesza około 98 krajowych i stowarzyszonych ośrodków ITI,
stanowiących zasadniczą część składu Instytutu. Każdy ośrodek ITI
tworzą profesjonaliści biorący czynny udział w życiu teatralnym danego
kraju i reprezentujący wszystkie gałęzie sztuk performatywnych.
Działalność ITI prowadzona jest na poziomie zarówno krajowym, jak
i międzynarodowym. Organem kierowniczym Instytutu jest Kongres
członków zgromadzony na sesji plenarnej. Pomiędzy Kongresami
Instytut zarządzany jest przez Sekretarza Generalnego urzędującego
w Sekretariacie Generalnym ITI w paryskiej siedzibie UNESCO,
oraz przez Radę Wykonawczą złożoną z wybranych członków,
reprezentujących poszczególne kontynenty i ośrodki sieci ITI.

Nichtregierungsorganisation (NGO), ist 1948 in Prag von der
UNESCO und von der internationalen Theatergemeinschaft
gegründet worden. Das IIT hat nationale Sitze in mehr als 100
Ländern und ist der UNESCO assoziiert und steht mit ihr in
formaler Beziehung und ist ihr wichtigster internationaler NGO-
Partner im Bereich der Schauspielkunst. Das IIT hat ein Abkommen
der Zusammenarbeit und des Informationsaustausches mit der
UNESCO und erhält für einige internationale Projekte Gelder von
der Division Künste und kulturelle Initiativen des Kultursektors der
UNESCO. Der Sitz des Generalsekretariats der IIT ist das UNESCO
House in Paris. Derzeit zählt das IIT etwa 98 nationale Zentren und
Mitglieder. Jedes Zentrum des die IIT besteht aus Menschen, die
aktiv im Theaterleben ihres Landes sind und sie sind repräsentativ
für alle Bereiche der Schauspielkünste. Die Tätigkeiten haben
sowohl nationalen als auch internationalen Charakter. Das Institut
wird von einem Kongress von Mitgliedern in Plenarsitzung regiert.
Zwischen einem Kongress und dem nächsten wird das Institut
sowohl vom Generalsekretär geführt, der am Generalsekretariat
des IIT am Hauptquartier der UNESCO in Paris residiert, als auch
vom Ausführenden Rat, der aus gewählten Mitgliedern besteht,
Vertreter der verschiedenen Kontinente und der Zentren des
Netzwerks.

dall’UNESCO e dalla comunità teatrale internazionale. L’IIT ha sedi nazionali in più di cento paesi ed è
associato e in relazione formale con l’UNESCO, di cui è principale partner internazionale ONG nell’ambito
delle arti dello spettacolo. L’IIT ha un accordo di cooperazione e scambio di informazioni con l’UNESCO, e
riceve fondi, per alcuni progetti internazionali, dalla Divisione Arti e Iniziative Culturali del Settore Culturale
dell’UNESCO. La sede del Segretariato Generale dell’IIT è l’UNESCO House a Parigi.
Attualmente l’IIT conta circa 98 Centri nazionali e associati, che ne formano la base associativa. Ogni
Centro IIT è composto da addetti ai lavori attivi nella vita teatrale del paese e rappresentativi di tutti i settori
delle arti dello spettacolo. Le attività svolte hanno carattere sia nazionale che internazionale.
L’Istituto è governato da un Congresso di membri riuniti in sessione plenaria. Tra un congresso e l’altro,
l’Istituto è gestito dal Segretario Generale, che risiede presso il Segretariato Generale dell’IIT, al quartier
generale dell’UNESCO di Parigi, e dal Consiglio Esecutivo composto da membri eletti, rappresentanti dei
diversi continenti e dei Centri della rete.
