The European Festivals Association (EFA) is the umbrella
organisation of arts festivals in Europe. Over more than
50 years, the Association has grown into a dynamic network
representing more than 100 music, dance, theatre and
multidisciplinary festivals, national festivals associations and
cultural organisations from 37 (mainly European) countries.
They all share the love for art, they all are internationally oriented,
they all thrive on innovation and on a stimulating and collective
atmosphere among audiences and artists. From service
and information to representation and lobbying activities – EFA
implements a wide array of activities. EFA enhances co-operation
and co-production among its members. EFA stimulates,
implements and disseminates know-how and researches (EFA
BOOKS series) on festivals. EFA offers training and education
activities (European Atelier for Young Festival Managers) and
last but not least speaks up on behalf of festivals in the international
cultural debate: working together, exchanging ideas,
stimulating creativity, extending horizons, creating new dynamics
and synergies, eventually developing a fruitful playground
for festivals, artists and the arts – that is what EFA stands for.

’Association des Festivals Européens (EFA) est l’organisation
qui coiffe les festivals d’art en Europe. Pendant ses plus de
cinquante années d’activité, l’Association est devenue un ré-
seau dynamique représentant plus de 100 festivals de musique,
de danse et de théâtre, des festivals multidisciplinaires et des associations
nationales de festivals et organisations culturelles de
37 pays (principalement européens). Ces initiatives ont toutes en
commun l’amour de l’art, elles ont toutes une orientation internationale;
l’innovation et une atmosphère stimulante et collective
au sein du public et parmi les artistes sont les éléments où elles
donnent le meilleur d’elles-mêmes. Depuis les services et l’information
jusqu’aux activités de représentation et de lobby, l’EFA met
en œuvre un large éventail d’activités. L’EFA met en valeur la coopération
et la coproduction parmi ses membres. L’EFA stimule,
réalise et diffuse le savoir-faire et la recherche sur les festivals (la
série de livres EFA BOOKS). L’EFA offre des activités de formation
et d’éducation (Atelier Européen pour les Jeunes Managers de Festivals)
et, ce qui n’est pas le moins important, l’Association prend
la parole au nom des festivals dans le débat culturel international:
travailler ensemble, échanger des idées, stimuler la créativité,
élargir les horizons, créer des dynamiques et des synergies nouvelles
et enfin développer un terrain de rencontre fructueux pour
les festivals, les artistes et l’art – voilà ce que représente l’EFA.

uropejskie Stowarzyszenie Festiwali (European
Festivals Association, EFA) to organizacja zrzeszająca
festiwale artystyczne w Europie. W ciągu swojej ponad
pięćdziesięcioletniej działalności Stowarzyszenie ukształtowało się
w dynamiczną sieć reprezentującą ponad 100 festiwali z dziedziny
muzyki, teatru, tańca, festiwali multidyscyplinarnych, krajowych
stowarzyszeń festiwalowych i organizacji kulturalnych z 37 krajów
(głównie europejskich). Wszystkie te inicjatywy łączy miłość do
sztuki, wszystkie mają charakter międzynarodowy; wszystkie
rozwijają się dzięki nowatorstwu i tworzeniu atmosfery wspólnoty
widzów i artystów. Zakres działalności EFA jest bardzo szeroki,
począwszy od obsługi i działalności informacyjnej aż po funkcje
przedstawicielskie i aktywność lobbingową. EFA inicjuje, wdraża
i rozpowszechnia wiedzę praktyczną oraz badania (seria EFA
BOOKS) dotyczące festiwali, oferuje szkolenia i działania edukacyjne
(Europejska Pracownia Młodych Menadżerów Festiwali – European
Atelier for Young Festival Managers), a także, co nie mniej ważne,
przemawia w imieniu festiwali w międzynarodowej debacie na
temat kultury: poprzez wspólną pracę, stymulowanie twórczości,
poszerzanie horyzontów, tworzenie nowej dynamiki i synergii oraz
gruntu dla owocnych działań festiwali, artystów i sztuk. Wszystko to
zawiera się w skrócie EFA.

In ihrem mehr als fünfzigjährigen Bestehen ist die
Vereinigung zu einem dynamischen Netzwerk herangewachsen,
das Musik, Tanz, Theater und multidisziplinäre Festivals
aus insgesamt 38 Ländern vertritt. Allen ist die Liebe zur
Kunst gemein, alle sind international orientiert, alle kommen
sie durch Innovation sowie durch eine stimulierende und
kollektive Atmosphäre zwischen Publikum und Künstlern zur
vollen Entfaltung. Von Dienstleistungen und Informationen zu
Repräsentations- und Lobby-Aktivität – die EFA führt ein weites
Feld von Tätigkeiten aus. Die EFA fördert Zusammenarbeit
und Koproduktion unter ihren Mitgliedern. Sie regt Knowhow
und Recherchen über Festivals an, führt diese durch und
vertreibt sie (EFA-Buchserien). Die EFA bietet Schulungs-
und Ausbildungsaktivitäten an (European Atelier for Young
Festival Managers) und last but not least ist sie ein Sprachrohr
für Festivals in der internationalen Kulturdebatte: durch
Zusammenarbeit, Ideenaustausch, durch das Fördern von
Kreativität, das Erweitern von Horizonten, durch das Schaffen
neuer Dynamiken und Synergien, und schließlich entwickelt sie
eine fruchtbare Spielwiese für Festivals, für die Künstler und
für die Kunst - dafür steht EFA.
La European Festivals Association (EFA) è l’organizzazione-ombrello dei festival artistici in Europa.
Per più di 50 anni, l’associazione è cresciuta in una rete dinamica che rappresenta più di 100 festival
multidisciplinari e di musica, danza e teatro, associazioni di festival nazionali e associazioni e
organizzazioni culturali appartenenti a 37 paesi (prevalentemente europei). Tutti condividono l’amore per
l’arte, tutti hanno un orientamento internazionale, tutti si sostanziano di innovazione e di un’atmosfera
stimolante e corale che coinvolge il pubblico e gli artisti. Dai servizi d’assistenza e d’informazione, alle
attività di rappresentazione e di accoglienza – l’EFA svolge una vasta gamma di attività. L’EFA incoraggia
la cooperazione e la coproduzione tra i suoi membri. L’EFA stimola, attua e diffonde il know-how e le
ricerche sui festival. L’EFA offre opportunità di apprendistato e istruzione (European Atelier for Young
Festival Managers) e da ultimo, ma non per importanza, fa sentire la sua voce a favore dei festival nel
dibattito culturale internazionale: lavorare insieme, scambiare idee, stimolare la creatività, estendere gli
orizzonti, creare nuove tendenze e sinergie, infine sviluppare uno spazio fertile per i festival, gli artisti e le
