Una macchina fotografica, un diciassettenne ambizioso e sconosciuto e una delle riviste più
importanti d’America. Comincia così, nel 1945, come foto-reporter per il magazine “Look”,
la carriera di uno dei più straordinari geni della storia del cinema, Stanley Kubrick. Che,
prima di passare dietro la macchina da presa, è stato, prima di tutto, un grande fotografo.
Dall’1 maggio al 25 agosto 2013 una mostra, a Palazzo Ducale di Genova, celebra il primo
amore del regista attraverso 160 scatti tratti dai negativi originali conservati nella Look
Magazine Collection del “Museum of the City” di New York. In questa pagina, L’ambiguità

A camera, a seventeen year old, both ambitious and unknown, and one of the most
important magazines in America. That’s how it all started. In 1945, as a photo-reporter for
the magazine, “Look”, Stanley Kubrick, one of the most extraordinary geniuses of the history
of the cinema, began his career. Before he took up the movie camera, Kubrick was actually a
very great photographer, and this can been seen from May 1 to August 25, 2013, at an
exhibition at the Ducal Palace in Genoa. It celebrates his first love through 160
photographs taken from original negatives conserved in the Look Magazine Collection at the
“Museum of the City” in New York.
