già aperto i cantieri e i primi edifici dovrebbero

Negli ultimi cinque anni sei dei quattordici progetti
firmati da Renzo Piano sono stati realizzati
negli Stati Uniti: a Los Angeles (due) e a San
Francisco in California, a Chicago nell’Illinois, ad
Aspen in Colorado e a Boston nel Massachusetts.
Nella maggior parte dei casi si è trattato di gallerie
d’arte, musei, nuovi padiglioni espositivi,
luoghi di cultura e di incontro come l’Art Institute
di Chicago, il County Museum di Los Angeles,
la California Academy of Science di San
Francisco. La California Academy disegnata da
Piano è un capolavoro di bio-architettura, il museo
“più verde del mondo” con il tetto costituito
da 10 mila metri quadrati di piante e fiori.
In America Renzo Piano è uno degli architetti internazionali
più popolari: nel 1998 ha ricevuto
alla Casa Bianca dal presidente Bill Clinton il Premio
Pritzker, che è un po’ il Nobel dell’architettura,
ed è entrato anche nella galleria dei Simpson,
la famosissima sitcom animata creata dal
fumettista statunitense Matt Groening.

In the last five years, six of the fourteen projects
that Piano has done have been done in the United
States. He did two in Los Angeles (including the Los
Angeles County Museum), the California Academy
of Science in San Francisco, the Art Institute in
Chicago, another in Aspen, Colorado, and the sixth
in Boston: museums, new exposition halls, art
galleries, places of culture and encounters. The
California Academy of Science designed by Piano is
a bio-architectural masterpiece, “the greenest
museum in the world” with a roof made of 10,000
square meters of plants and flowers.
Renzo Piano is one of the most popular
international architects in America.
In 1998 President Bill Clinton in the White House
presented him with the Pritzker Prize, the
equivalent of the Nobel in architecture. Piano has
even entered into iconic American culture on the
Simpsons, the famous cartoon sitcom created by
Matt Groening.
