Taking as a start the opening of
the new Whales and Dolphin
Pavilion, innovation is the key
word in 2013 for the group which
in Genoa manages, in addition to
the Aquarium, also the Galata
Museum of the Sea, the Bigo, the
Children’s City, and, beginning
Easter weekend, the National
Museum of the Antarctic. “We’ve
passed our twentieth year of
activity,” says Beppe Costa, the
C.E.O. of Costa Edutainment, “and
renewal was necessary to
maintain our scientific and
cultural role. We also wish to
continue to attract important
numbers of tourists to Genoa, and
so have thought out the renewal
on the basis of what we have
learned, as we constantly listen to
our visitors.”
Get ready for the ice! Starting in
Easter, Acquario Village will also
include the National Museum of
the Antarctic, which has been
renovated - including its
exhibitions - in partnership with
the University of Genoa. The
public can see what it’s like to live

Workshop, il nuovo padiglione è
stato ideato su misura dei suoi
speciali inquilini. Mare, vetro, luce:
la struttura, lunga 100 metri
e alta come un palazzo di 7 piani,
è posizionata tra il corpo principale
dell’Acquario e la Grande
Nave Blu, ma resterà per gran
parte immersa. Quattro le vasche
a cielo aperto – main pool, nursery,
medical e holding – in grado
di ospitare fino a nove animali.
Camminando sopra la vasca
principale si potranno ascoltare
in presa diretta i suoni che i delfini
emettono per comunicare.
Ma la grande novità è la galleria
sottomarina, un tunnel vetrato,
lungo 15 metri, con i delfini che
nuotano al di sopra della testa
dei visitatori. «Il nuovo padiglione
– spiega Beppe Costa – comporterà
un allungamento della
durata media della visita all’Acon

Pavilion, made to measure for its
special inhabitants.
The structure, 100 meters long
and as high as a seven story
building, is positioned between
the main body of the Aquarium
and the great blue ship, Grande
Nave Blu, with most of the new
pavilion immersed underwater.
Four are the tanks open to the sky
– the main pool, nursery, medical,
and holding – with the potential

A partire da Pasqua, AcquarioVillage
è partito alla conquista del
continente di ghiaccio, inglobando
il Museo Nazionale dell’Antartide,
restaurato e rinnovato
nell’esposizione, in partnership
con l’Università di Genova. Il
pubblico potrà scoprire la vita
nelle basi italiane in Antartide e
gli scenari più suggestivi attraverso
filmati, reperti scientifici e
allestimenti interattivi. La visita al
Mna sarà compresa nel biglietto
Acquario di Genova dove sono
ospitate, appunto, le vasche antartiche,
uniche in Europa, e una
grande vasca subantartica, dedicata
ai pinguini.
Novità anche al Galata Museo del
Mare, che con le sue 28 sale è il
più grande museo marittimo del
Mediterraneo. Qui si può salire
