Produção e Mercado <strong>de</strong> Produtos<br />
Florestais em <strong>Santa</strong> <strong>Catarina</strong><br />
Preços <strong>da</strong>s matérias-primas <strong>da</strong> indústria<br />
florestal continuam em elevação<br />
As florestas cultiva<strong>da</strong>s são responsáveis por<br />
quase to<strong>da</strong> a oferta catarinense <strong>de</strong> matériaprima<br />
para a indústria florestal. Segundo o<br />
IBGE, a produção catarinense <strong>de</strong> ma<strong>de</strong>ira em<br />
toras para processamento mecânico aumentou<br />
quase 18% em 2000 em relação a 1999,<br />
crescimento semelhante ao observado entre<br />
1998 e 1999 (Tabela 9). Em <strong>2001</strong>, estima-se que<br />
este crescimento tenha sido <strong>de</strong> cerca <strong>de</strong> 8%.<br />
O expressivo crescimento <strong>da</strong>s exportações<br />
catarinenses <strong>de</strong> produtos florestais, verificado<br />
nos últimos anos, vem mantendo a expansão<br />
<strong>da</strong> <strong>de</strong>man<strong>da</strong> <strong>de</strong> matérias-primas. A indústria<br />
<strong>de</strong> móveis e <strong>de</strong> laminados e compensados<br />
consome cerca <strong>de</strong> 40% <strong>da</strong> ma<strong>de</strong>ira bruta<br />
utiliza<strong>da</strong> no processamento mecânico. O<br />
restante é consumido nas serrarias e transformado<br />
em diversos outros produtos <strong>de</strong>rivados<br />
<strong>da</strong> ma<strong>de</strong>ira.<br />
Os reflorestamentos <strong>de</strong> pínus são responsáveis<br />
pela quase totali<strong>da</strong><strong>de</strong> <strong>da</strong> oferta <strong>de</strong> ma<strong>de</strong>ira<br />
para a indústria florestal catarinense.<br />
Esta indústria consome cerca <strong>de</strong> 13 milhões<br />
<strong>de</strong> m 3 por ano <strong>de</strong> toras <strong>de</strong> pínus. Deste montante,<br />
aproxima<strong>da</strong>mente 4,5 milhões <strong>de</strong> m 3<br />
são transformados em celulose e pastas <strong>de</strong><br />
alto rendimento, 6,9 milhões m 3 se transformam<br />
em ma<strong>de</strong>ira serra<strong>da</strong>, 1,3 milhão <strong>de</strong> m 3 é<br />
consumido na produção <strong>de</strong> compensados e o<br />
restante é utilizado na produção <strong>de</strong> aglomerados,<br />
MDF 2 e energia.<br />
