ABSTRACTThe Portuguese poet Joaquim José Cesário Ver<strong>de</strong> (1855-1886) was an artist whoshowed his historical moment through his poetry, a rich sensitivity that can be studiedfrom a <strong>de</strong>ca<strong>de</strong>nt Romanticism to Realism ironic one, joining a note of pessimism arisingout of your skepticism. His work also involves morbidity of Naturalism, presentingcharacteristics of Impressionism and anticipation of Surrealism. His poetry takes manyforms and sha<strong>de</strong>s, features that inclu<strong>de</strong> among the Parnassian, the Symbolists and theprecursors of Mo<strong>de</strong>rnism, factors that prevent classify his poetry to a singlecategorization. The poetry practiced by Cesário Ver<strong>de</strong> takes the rea<strong>de</strong>r to take on theactually a more free and unimpe<strong>de</strong>d, able to un<strong>de</strong>rstand it in its novelty, the resultinginterest in the everyday not limited to the city, but the reality facing country, whichshares land with a civilization. The th<strong>em</strong>e of the countrysi<strong>de</strong> and the city is on theproposal for an obvious trail to the camp, looking beyond a healthy life, strength to live.The work of Cesário Ver<strong>de</strong> has been studied in the aspects of the real poeticization; thedichotomy town / country, the presence of women, the importance of representation ofeveryday life in the poetry of Cesário Ver<strong>de</strong>, highlighting its language and style. Ourproposal, however, seeks to i<strong>de</strong>ntify the relationship between rural-urban, establishing aparallel with the Impressionist aesthetic, literary correspon<strong>de</strong>nt of "live painting"advocated by Manet, Degas, among others. Among the highlight Impressionist CamillePissarro (1830-1903), French artist consi<strong>de</strong>red the "painter of the earth," which<strong>de</strong>scribes throughout his career, plowed fields and countrysi<strong>de</strong>, sleepy villages andbustling cities too, i<strong>de</strong>ntifying with the proposal poetic of Cesário Ver<strong>de</strong>. The researchis anchored in the theoretical assumptions of comparative literature, gen<strong>de</strong>r and lyricalreading of the image. We discussed the i<strong>de</strong>as of Carvalhal, Coutinho and Nitrini; Aguiare Silva, Bosi and Judice, Jolly and Rufach, Pena and Toá. The results were obtainedfrom the Comparative Literature with the poetic work of Cesário Ver<strong>de</strong> and CamillePissarro's canvases which confirm the possibility of reading.Keywords: Cesário Ver<strong>de</strong>, Poetry, Painting, Camille Pissarro, City and Field.
