2.0.00 Based upon <strong>the</strong> lineage <strong>of</strong> philosophical thought outlined in Part One, specifically<br />

<strong>the</strong> works <strong>of</strong> Foucault and Heidegger, Part Two outlines <strong>the</strong> <strong>the</strong>oretical framework for this<br />

investigation, in particular taking <strong>the</strong> taxonomy used and creating a working model. This<br />

model is developed to better illustrate <strong>the</strong> entity <strong>of</strong> ‘<strong>the</strong> <strong>discipline</strong>’ and how this entity<br />

interacts and nests with o<strong>the</strong>r entities <strong>of</strong> knowledge such as discourses and ontic states. The<br />

roles <strong>of</strong> <strong>academic</strong> gatekeepers are detailed toge<strong>the</strong>r with <strong>the</strong> episteme that are created<br />

through <strong>the</strong> interaction <strong>of</strong> exclusions, citations, and <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r elements that are part and<br />

parcel <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>discipline</strong>. The exercise <strong>of</strong> power, as in gravitas, between <strong>the</strong> elements <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>discipline</strong> and <strong>the</strong> savoir knowledge <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> practitioner, is applied using Foucault’s<br />

Triangle, which also includes observations on <strong>the</strong> role <strong>of</strong> third parties such as intellectuals.<br />

2.0.01 The models being developed in this dissertation are considered dynamic and <strong>the</strong><br />

effects <strong>of</strong> discontinuities on <strong>the</strong> model are illustrated. Hypo<strong>the</strong>ses are <strong>of</strong>fered on <strong>the</strong><br />

possibility <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> effect <strong>of</strong> a rift between savoir and connaissance knowledges that may<br />
