Using <strong>the</strong> <strong>Agilent</strong> <strong>7100</strong> <strong>Capillary</strong> <strong>Electrophoresis</strong> <strong>System</strong> 5<br />

<strong>Capillary</strong> <strong>Electrophoresis</strong>, CE<br />

Au<strong>to</strong>balance<br />

Enables you <strong>to</strong> zero <strong>the</strong> baseline of <strong>the</strong> diode-array detec<strong>to</strong>r before or after an<br />

analysis. You can use <strong>the</strong> au<strong>to</strong>balance feature <strong>to</strong> ensure that <strong>the</strong> baseline is<br />

reset <strong>to</strong> zero ei<strong>the</strong>r before <strong>the</strong> Prerun time has elapsed, or after <strong>the</strong> Postrun<br />

time has elapsed.<br />

Lamps On Required for Acquisition<br />

Deselect <strong>the</strong> parameter Lamp on required for analysis if you also have a different<br />

detec<strong>to</strong>r configured than <strong>the</strong> built-in DAD. Such a detec<strong>to</strong>r could be an MSD<br />

(mass sensitive detec<strong>to</strong>r), LIF (laser induced fluorescence) or a CCD<br />

(contactless conductivity detec<strong>to</strong>r). This option allows you <strong>to</strong> save lamp life<br />

time.<br />

Detec<strong>to</strong>r Timetable<br />

Using <strong>the</strong> Timetable for <strong>the</strong> detec<strong>to</strong>r, you can program <strong>the</strong> time for <strong>the</strong> following<br />

parameters during your analysis:<br />

• Measuring wavelength for signals A <strong>to</strong> H,<br />

• Measuring bandwidth for signals A <strong>to</strong> H,<br />

• Reference wavelength for signals A <strong>to</strong> H,<br />

• Reference bandwidth for signals A <strong>to</strong> H,<br />

• Spectra acquisition mode,<br />

• Peak width<br />

• Threshold.<br />

By programming <strong>the</strong> time for <strong>the</strong>se parameters you can optimize <strong>the</strong> required<br />

disk space for your spectra by switching <strong>the</strong> spectra acquisition on and off.<br />

Thus, you can acquire spectra for parts of <strong>the</strong> electropherogram only.<br />
