DISTRICT COURT<br />

We will contribute to Effective and Efficient <strong>County</strong> Services by:<br />

• Filling all vacant positions required to fully implement the court’s re-engineering/re-organization, once the hiring<br />

freeze has come to an end.<br />

• Consolidating all criminal calendars to the Port Orchard facility.<br />

• Converting to Kronos timekeeping system.<br />

• Converting to the employee evaluation system.<br />

• Restructuring the court’s calendars.<br />

• Finishing the re-write of the court probation services software (CHAD) in an effort to streamline, simplify and<br />

remove all redundancies with the State’s Judicial Information System.<br />

• Scanning/Imaging:<br />

o All Infractions<br />

o All Closed DUI and domestic violence cases which are required to be retained permanently<br />

o All alcohol related, assault related, all domestic related and sex related cases within 45 days of<br />

sentencing<br />

o All Civil Cases<br />

Probation<br />

• Complete revision of Probation Services policy and procedures manual<br />

• Two-day intensive training for Probation Staff on Motivation Interviewing with follow-up coaching by telephone with a<br />

contracted provider<br />

• Continued collaboration with community partners in Chemical treatment, domestic violence and law enforcement.<br />

V. Program Overview<br />

Program:<br />

Court Administration / Clerk’s Office<br />

Court Administration is responsible for all activities required which allow a judge to hear cases in open court. Planning, budgeting<br />

personnel management, security and scheduling are but a few of these responsibilities. The District Court Clerk’s Office accepts the<br />

filing of over 40,000 new cases each year and manages the case flow and record retention of hundreds of thousands of files.<br />

The D.C.C.O. also receipts for over five million dollars of fines and costs each year and assists all defendants and litigants through<br />

the court processes.Other tasks are as follows:<br />

• Data Entry/ Case Organization<br />

• Record: Contraction, Maintenance, Retention, Imaging, Public Access, Security, Docketing<br />

• Court Room Support<br />

• Recording of Proceeding – Secure Storage, Retention,<br />

• Exhibits – Marking, Custody, Security, Disposition: Return/Destroy<br />

• Reporting to AOC<br />

• Customer Service Information – Brochures, Telephone/In-Person, Web<br />

• Appeals Facilitation<br />

• Pay Plans: Setup, Tracking, Delinquent Notices, Referral to Collections<br />
