BUDGET OVERVIEW
Original Departmental Submissions:
Initial request from the departments in the General Fund totaled over $2.5 million more than what was in
the Base Budget (2008 budget with salary inflation including a 4% COLA and step increases). This
included but was not limited to:
• 12 Additional FTEs
• 9 Reclass request
• $996,965 in Overtime
• $372,405 in Extra Help
• $703,571 for CenCom Operations
• $1.4 Million in Prisoner Medical
Approved by the Board:
• 2.5 FTEs in the General Fund
• 2 FTEs in Public Works
• 3 Reclasses
• $995,022 in Overtime
• Extra Help funded as requested
• Reduction of Colas across County from 4% to 2% or equivalent in furloughs and/or voluntary
work hour reduction.
• Closure of the Silverdale District Court Satellite.
Requests the Board Could Not Afford To Fund At This Time:
After a meeting with all Elected and Appointed Officials, as well as the public, the Board decided not to
fund the following requests in this budget because the long range financial plan could not sustain these
requests:
• 6 re-class request
• 4% Cola increases
