Engineering<br />

This program is responsible reviewing and inspecting all developer funded and <strong>County</strong> funded sewer<br />

projects. The staff interfaces with the general public, sewer utility customers, engineers, developers,<br />

contractors, and works closely with the Public Works Roads Division and the Department of Community<br />

Development. The program maintains and updates all the sewer database information in GIS and<br />

manages the Sewer General Plan on the <strong>County</strong> website. All side sewer permits are issued and inspect by<br />

these employees.<br />

To maintain the solid working relationship developed over the years with the public, other departments, and<br />

outside agencies by providing responsive and quality service.<br />

The Sewer Utility Division will establish performance measures in <strong>2009</strong> based on national and<br />

local industry measures that will be beneficial to the public as indicators of the status of the Division. To<br />

begin to accomplish this goal, the Sewer Utility Division will participate in a benchmarking survey<br />

conducted by the American Water Works Association and the Water Environment Federation.<br />

Performance indicators for effectiveness, efficiency, and workload for the Engineering Program<br />

may include:<br />

• Project Review Effectiveness – Comparison of the review hours to the number of projects processed annually.<br />
