境 瞬 息 萬 變 , 社 關 處 會 經 常 檢 討 其 策
略 、 評 估 各 活 動 的 成 效 及 修 訂 工 作 目
標 , 與 時 並 進 , 務 求 能 夠 更 有 效 地 履 行
肅 貪 倡 廉 的 任 務 。
In 2006, a total of 164 press releases
were issued to inform the public of ICAC's major
operations, court cases and other areas of work.
Press statements were promptly issued to dispel
any misconception arising from inadequate
understanding of the Commission's operation. We
also provided expeditious assistance to the news
media and handled a total of 1,000 press enquiries
in the year. In addition, officers from different
departments gave a total of 53 press briefings and
interviews to introduce specific anti-corruption
initiatives or projects. In 2006, the Department
launched an electronic newsletter, ICAC Post, as
an additional platform to update the international
media and business community on Hong Kong’s
latest anti-corruption endeavours.
The Department continued to co-operate
with the local, Mainland and overseas news
media to publicise the work of the ICAC through
joint newspaper projects, TV programmes and
contribution of articles. During the year, we
co-ordinated briefings for ICAC’s directorate
of ficers to expound on Hong Kong's anticorruption
efforts for 120 Mainland and overseas
visitors.
HANDLING OF CORRUPTION REPORTS
In 20 0 6, t he I C AC receive d 1,0 83
corruption reports through its Regional Office
network, representing 32% of the total number of
corruption reports received by the Commission.
Officers handling complaints in the Regional
Offices have been trained as part of the Operations
Department's Quick Response Team so that public
complaints could be dealt with expeditiously.
ICAC ANNUAL SURVEY
The Department continues to carry out
an annual public opinion survey to gauge the
community's attitude towards corruption and
its perception of ICAC's performance. In the
2006 Annual Survey, virtually all respondents
(98.9%) considered that the ICAC deserved their
support. A great majority (97.1%) indicated that
their confidence in the ICAC would increase or
remain the same in the coming year. Similarly, a
vast majority of the respondents (92.6%) believed
that the ICAC would keep corruption reports
confidential and 72.0% indicated that they would
