Overnight I had told Achmet that he must be ready
at eight the next morning to accompany me about
the city as guide ; but when the time came he was
nowhere to be found. The weather was divinely
sunny and clear, and after waiting awhile and feeling
that daylight was being wasted, I started alone to
take photographs. I should have done better with
less haste.
