Figure 6 depicts a traditional (pre-1900) adobe hogan (mud and straw construction)
and Figure 7 shows a more modern (post-1900) log construction (still
used, but with a wooden roof these days, unlike the mud roof in the picture).
Also as pictured, modern hogans have a cast-iron wood burning stove with pipe
vent, whereas the traditional design merely had a vent hole in the roof for a fire pit.
