<strong>Encore</strong> <strong>Two</strong> <strong>User</strong> <strong>Manual</strong> Issue 1DitherDither is used to replace distortion caused by quantisation with a low levelwide-band noise that is subjectively easier on the ear.Dither is set automatically on ADCs for the word length of the converter.Dithering is 16, 18, 20 or 24-bit with an LSB Rounding, Rectangular orTriangular pattern.> To set Dither on Output ports, click on the Outputs radio button toshow the list for Output ports.> Click on the Type radio button as required.> Double click on the Dither entry for the required port, and a drop downlist of Dither settings will appear.> Double click on the required setting.NB: Auto Increment and Auto Copy can be used when setting dither.RelaysThe relay control in I/O Configuration is a simpler alternative to the fullGPI Configuration control.The choice of using GPI Configuration or I/O Configuration settings ismade in <strong>Encore</strong> Preferences.When a relay is associated with an input port, the relay is actioned whenthe fader crosses the -60dB threshold.> To associate a Relay with a port, double click on the Relay column forthe required port (an entry box will appear with an X next to it), and entera relay number using the <strong>Encore</strong> keyboard.The number will be shown in the Relay column.NB: Auto Increment and Auto Copy can be used when associatingRelays with ports.MCS Track Arming using 'virtual relays 'You can remotely arm up to 48 tracks using the Pec/Direct panel if youhave assigned 'virtual relays' in I/O Config.These relays use the MCS 9pin to arm machine tracks.The 3-digit relay number has the format XYY, where:• X = MCS port number (1-6) that the machine is attached to on theSPS rack;• YY = the 2 digit track number (01 – 96) you wish to arm.For example, if you wish to arm track 7 on a machine attached to port 3,the relay number would be 307.This relay number is attached to the Output port from the console thatfeeds the audio input to the machine.> Click the Output radio button so the ports list shows Outputs.> Double click in the junction of the Relay column and the Output portyou wish to assign a port too.> Type in the 3 digit relay number and press Return.- 168 -
