Appendix ASoftware ReferenceUsing the Search ToolProgrammingFiltersSearchStatementsSearch StatementSyntaxThe Search tool helps to organize the large set data in the Add files dialog box. TheSearch tool allows the software to display a subset of the total number of platedocuments based on a set of predefined criteria.The Search tool operates on a logic similar to a simple computer programminglanguage. Each filter consists of a single logical statement that instructs the softwareto include or exclude plate documents based on a specific parameter or quality. Thestatements can be concatenated to screen the displayed data based on multiplecriteria.The Search tool consists of a table in which each row represents a single statementthat tests the associated data set for a condition. Every time a row (or statement) isadded to the table, the software evaluates each plate document in the selecteddirectory for the condition defined by the statement. If a plate document meets thecriteria defined by the test (the test evaluates true), then the software displays it in theSearch Results list. If a plate document does not meet the criteria (the test evaluatesfalse), the software hides the document from view and excludes the data from theanalysis.
