come sappiamo, non ha eguali per varietà e ricchezza in nessun altro paese europeo (11). Non si capisce per quale ragione solo al friulano e al sardo sia concesso uno statuto particolare, come se, ad esempio, napoletano, dialetti siciliani, veneziano, milanese e romagnolo non potessero vantare una tradizione altrettanto notevole. La sfida per il futuro, a mio parere, è quella di trovare un atteggiamento ragionevole ugualmente distante sia dall’ostilità verso i dialetti che troppo spesso è prevalsa in passato fra le autorità, sia dallo spirito da riserva indiana che le norme sulle minoranze si portano sovente appresso. Questo dato è stato messo in discussione da altri studiosi, i quali, facendo leva sui concetti di semi-competenza, lo hanno portato al 10%.
