Raumkunst und Lichtgestaltung
Spatial Design and Lighting
Erkenntnisse.
Was dieses Programm
Theory and practice at the Chair of spatial design and lightning are oriented on
a classic subject matter: the void of space, created and enlivened by architecture’s
two constitutive elements: walls and light. Our work in teaching and
research articulates its demands, tasks, and findings through the polarity, tension,
and correlation of built environment and enclosed void, of interior and
exterior, of light and shadow. The quantifiable parameters of construction (everything
that can be measured, weighed, tested, and reproduced anywhere and
anytime) are, thus, merely the factual preconditions for our programmes. What
the studio aims for, most of all, is to train perception / observation / recognition,
to analyse our discipline’s multitudinous means of expression and design, and
to unravel their objective and subjective implications. Thus, the goal is to
describe a form of architecture that always demands qualitative (personal, affective)
evaluations and decisions. This is a dynamic, not a static concept, and our
curriculum occurs within an interdisciplinary dialogue with art history, philosophy,
and other sciences and disciplines. Light and lighting design are significant
components in designing and structuring spaces. As Chair of Spatial
Arts and Lighting Design, Hannelore Deubzer deliberates on solutions that meet
the demands of architectural design as well as specific use and reflect the successful
synthesis of daylight and artificial lighting.
