Building Construction and Material Science
Der Lehrstuhl thematisiert das Entstehen von Architektur durch Baustoffe, Herstellungsverfahren
und methodische Konstruktion. Diese Kerninhalte werden im
3.Semester BA in den Pflichtfächern Entwurf, Baukonstruktion und Baustoffkunde
intensiv vermittelt und in den MA- (Oberstufen-) angeboten Entwerfen, Entwerfen
konstruktive Durcharbeitung, Kurzentwurf, Material und Architektur,
Industrialisierungsstrategien und neue Werkstoffe vertieft. Die dem Lehrstuhl
angegliederte Baustoffsammlung der Architekturfakultät ist ein wichtiges didaktisches
Werkzeug und Ausgangspunkt für die Auseinandersetzung mit Material in
der Architektur.
In Seminaren werden Themen entwickelt, die aus Forschungsaufträgen entstehen
oder zu Forschungsanträgen führen sollen. Parallel zum Forschungsauftrag Holzleichtbeton
fand ein Seminar zu Anwendungsmöglichkeiten statt. Materialproben
wurden in Zusammenarbeit mit der MPA hergestellt und in der Baustoffsammlung
ausgestellt. Zu Themen wie Terrazzo, Wärmedämmverbundsysteme und Recycling
haben Seminare stattgefunden, die in Forschungsanträgen münden sollen.
Im Zuge der BA-Umstellung 2010 wurde der Schwerpunkt Entwerfen, Baukonstruktion
und Baustoffkunde von 2 Semestern (3.,4.) im Diplomstudiengang auf 1
Semester (3.) im BA reduziert. Die frei werdende Kapazität wird für neu angebotene
Fächer und Projekte im MA Architektur, Buchpublikationen und Forschungsanträge
genutzt.
The Chair concentrates its efforts on architecture created with a focus on materials,
production methods and methodical construction. These core contents are
treated intensively in the obligatory courses “architectural design, materials and
building construction“ in the third semester of the BA architecture. This knowledge
is deepened in the MA architecture elective subjects “design studio“, “design
project constructive consolidation“, “sketch design“, “material and architecture“,
“industrialisation strategies“ and “new materials“. The Chair also is in charge
of the materials collection of the faculty, an important didactic instrument and
departure point of a deeper examination of the topic of materials in architecture.
In seminars we develop subjects which are derived from research projects or
should lead to research proposals. Thus we organised a seminar on wood-concrete
applications in parallel to a research project on wood-concrete. Material samples
have been produced at the MPA next door and have been exhibited at the materials
collection. On themes such as terrazzo, stuccoed thermal insulation and recycling,
seminars took place which should lead to research proposals in the field.
In the course of the introduction of the BA in 2010 the obligatory courses on
design, building construction and materials taught by our Chair has been reduced
from two semesters to one. The now available capacity is used for new studios and
courses in the MA architecture, books about materials as well as building construction
and research proposals.
