2.5.6.2 Installation of the spr<strong>in</strong>kler system and its associated water<br />

supply, control and test<strong>in</strong>g requirements shall comply with SS<br />

CP52 Code of Practice <strong>for</strong> Automatic <strong>Fire</strong> Spr<strong>in</strong>kler System<br />

except as here<strong>in</strong> modified:<br />

(a) Hazard groups <strong>for</strong> the spr<strong>in</strong>kler design shall be as<br />

follows:<br />

(i) Ord<strong>in</strong>ary Hazard 1 <strong>for</strong> ancillary areas; and<br />

(ii) Ord<strong>in</strong>ary Hazard 3 <strong>for</strong> commercial spaces.<br />

(b) Spr<strong>in</strong>kler pipes pass<strong>in</strong>g through the public areas and<br />

underplat<strong>for</strong>m services duct need not be enclosed<br />

with<strong>in</strong> fire rated enclosures; and<br />

(c) Tunnel Ventilation Fan room and Smoke Control Fan<br />

rooms which also serve as smoke plenums shall be<br />

protected by detectors.<br />

(d) Cut-off spr<strong>in</strong>klers are not required above exit doors<br />

of staircases and exit passageways if the exit doors<br />

are located <strong>in</strong> the station public areas.<br />

(e) Magnetic (short circuit) trips are permitted <strong>for</strong> use <strong>in</strong><br />

motor circuits of electric motor driven pumps.<br />

(f) The spr<strong>in</strong>kler control valves and ancillary equipment<br />

shall be located <strong>in</strong> the fire pump / tank room.<br />

2.5.6.3 The spr<strong>in</strong>kler system shall be electrically monitored so that on<br />

the operation of any spr<strong>in</strong>kler head, the fire signal is<br />

automatically transmitted to the OCC via ma<strong>in</strong> fire alarm panel.<br />

2.5.6.4 Special Purpose Rooms<br />

(a) Where a station is required to be provided with an<br />

automatic spr<strong>in</strong>kler system under this <strong>Standard</strong>, parts of<br />

the station which are used <strong>for</strong> purposes stipulated <strong>in</strong><br />

Table 2.5A shall be compartmented <strong>in</strong> accordance with<br />

columns 3(a) and 3(b) of the table.<br />

(b) Where a station is not required to be provided with an<br />

automatic spr<strong>in</strong>kler system under this <strong>Standard</strong>, special<br />

purpose rooms stipulated <strong>in</strong> Table 2.5A shall be<br />

compartmented <strong>in</strong> accordance with columns 2(a) and<br />

2(b).<br />
