2.7.2.6 Emergency fire phones (a two-way voice communication<br />

system) shall be provided <strong>in</strong> lieu of manual call po<strong>in</strong>ts <strong>in</strong> the<br />

station public areas such that a person needs not travel more<br />

than 90m to an emergency fire phone on any level to report a<br />

fire. The Passenger Service Centre (PSC), where provided, can<br />

be considered as a report<strong>in</strong>g station.<br />

2.7.2.7 For underground station, two-way emergency voice<br />

communication shall be provided between the <strong>Fire</strong> Command<br />

Centre (FCC) or <strong>in</strong> the absence of which, the ma<strong>in</strong> alarm panel<br />

(MAP) and the follow<strong>in</strong>g:<br />

(a) Every fire fight<strong>in</strong>g lobby;<br />

(b) <strong>Fire</strong> pump room;<br />

(c) <strong>Fire</strong> lift;<br />

(d) Local manual control <strong>for</strong> smoke control equipment;<br />

(e) All lift motor rooms;<br />

(f) Passenger Service Centre (PSC); and<br />

(g) Air-handl<strong>in</strong>g control rooms if a manual on/off switch<br />

<strong>for</strong> the station’s central air-condition<strong>in</strong>g system is not<br />

provided <strong>in</strong> the PSC.<br />

2.7.2.8 <strong>Fire</strong>men <strong>in</strong>tercom shall be provided <strong>for</strong> communication<br />

between the space where the tunnel dry ma<strong>in</strong>s breech<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>lets<br />

are located at ground level and the buffer areas. The <strong>in</strong>tercom<br />

unit at the buffer areas shall be located near the access stairs at<br />

the plat<strong>for</strong>m lead<strong>in</strong>g to the track level.<br />
