2.8.1 GENERAL<br />

INTEGRATION AND INTERFACE FOR STATIONS<br />
This section stipulates the m<strong>in</strong>imum fire safety provisions<br />
required <strong>for</strong> stations that <strong>in</strong>tegrate and <strong>in</strong>terface with other<br />
transit l<strong>in</strong>es, transit stations and non-transit occupancies.<br />
2.8.2 STATIONS WITH MULTIPLE TRANSIT LINES<br />
2.8.2.1 Hot-l<strong>in</strong>e telephone(s) shall be provided <strong>for</strong> two-way<br />
communication between the PSCs of these transit l<strong>in</strong>es <strong>in</strong> the<br />
station, or <strong>in</strong> the absence of PSCs, the OCCs. The <strong>in</strong>stallation<br />
shall comply with SS 546.<br />
2.8.2.2 Where <strong>in</strong>dividual public address (PA) systems are provided <strong>for</strong><br />
the different transit l<strong>in</strong>es with<strong>in</strong> the station <strong>for</strong> their respective<br />
concourse and plat<strong>for</strong>m areas, these PA systems shall be<br />
designed such that announcements can be made by one of the<br />
transit l<strong>in</strong>es over all the PA systems <strong>in</strong> the station<br />
simultaneously dur<strong>in</strong>g an emergency.<br />
2.8.2.3 One ma<strong>in</strong> fire alarm panel should be provided <strong>in</strong> accordance<br />
with Section 2.5.5. Where separate fire alarm systems <strong>for</strong> the<br />
different transit l<strong>in</strong>es are desirable, separate fire alarm panels<br />
may be provided. These fire alarm panels shall be located <strong>in</strong><br />
accordance with Section 2.5.5 and next to each other.<br />
2.8.3 STATIONS WITH INTERCHANGE-LINK<br />
2.8.3.1 Interchange-l<strong>in</strong>k shall not be <strong>in</strong>cluded <strong>in</strong> the calculations of<br />
station exit capacity.<br />
2.8.3.2 Hot-l<strong>in</strong>e telephone(s) shall be provided <strong>for</strong> two-way<br />
communication between the PSCs of these stations, or <strong>in</strong> the<br />
absence of PSCs, the OCCs. The <strong>in</strong>stallation shall comply with<br />
SS 546.<br />
2.8.3.3 A summary fire alarm signal from each station shall be<br />
transmitted to the PSC(s) of the other station(s) connected by<br />
the <strong>in</strong>terchange-l<strong>in</strong>k, or <strong>in</strong> the absence of PSC(s), the OCC(s).<br />
The transmission l<strong>in</strong>es shall be electrically supervised. Upon<br />
receiv<strong>in</strong>g a summary fire alarm signal, an audible and visual<br />
alarm shall be activated at the PSC(s) or OCC(s). A silenc<strong>in</strong>g<br />
switch may be provided to silence the audible alarm but it<br />
shall not cancel the visual alarm.<br />
