OTHER SYSTEMS IN STATIONS<br />

2.7.1 EXIT LIGHTING AND EXIT SIGN<br />

2.7.1.1 Exit Light<strong>in</strong>g<br />

(a) Exits of all stations shall be provided with artificial<br />

light<strong>in</strong>g facilities to the satisfaction of the requirements<br />

under this <strong>Standard</strong>.<br />

(b) The m<strong>in</strong>imum illum<strong>in</strong>ance to be provided <strong>for</strong> all exits<br />

and the spac<strong>in</strong>g <strong>for</strong> lum<strong>in</strong>aires shall be <strong>in</strong> accordance<br />

with the requirements <strong>in</strong> SS 575Code of Practice <strong>for</strong> the<br />

Installation and Ma<strong>in</strong>tenance of Emergency Evacuation<br />

Light<strong>in</strong>g and Power Supply <strong>Systems</strong> <strong>in</strong> Build<strong>in</strong>gs.<br />

(c) The delay between the failure of the electrical supply to<br />

normal light<strong>in</strong>g and the energization of the exit light<strong>in</strong>g<br />

shall not exceed 1 second.<br />

2.7.1.2 Emergency Light<strong>in</strong>g <strong>for</strong> Public Areas, Corridors and Lobbies<br />

(a) Emergency light<strong>in</strong>g shall be provided <strong>in</strong> public areas,<br />

all corridors and lobbies.<br />

(b) The m<strong>in</strong>imum level of illum<strong>in</strong>ance, the spac<strong>in</strong>g of<br />

lum<strong>in</strong>aires and the maximum delay <strong>for</strong> emergency<br />

light<strong>in</strong>g required <strong>in</strong> this clause shall be the same as that<br />

<strong>for</strong> the exit light<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

2.7.1.3 Emergency Light<strong>in</strong>g <strong>for</strong> Occupied Areas<br />

(a) Emergency light<strong>in</strong>g shall be provided <strong>in</strong> the occupied<br />

areas follow<strong>in</strong>g the guidel<strong>in</strong>es below:<br />

(i) Along paths lead<strong>in</strong>g to corridors, lobbies and<br />

exits <strong>in</strong> all occupied areas where the direct<br />

distance from the entry po<strong>in</strong>t of the corridor,<br />

lobby or exit to the furthest po<strong>in</strong>t <strong>in</strong> the area<br />

concerned exceeds 13m; or<br />

(ii) Over the whole of such area if there is no<br />

explicit paths lead<strong>in</strong>g to corridors, lobbies and<br />

exits.<br />
