4.1.3.2 Not withstand<strong>in</strong>g the above, dual feeder power supply are<br />

deemed to have been provided with primary and secondary<br />

source of power supplies. For the purposes of this <strong>Standard</strong>,<br />

the primary feeder (primary supply) shall be the normal power<br />

supply while the secondary feeder (secondary supply) shall be<br />

the emergency power supply. (See diagram 4.1.3.2).<br />

4.1.3.3 The follow<strong>in</strong>g systems shall be provided with a secondary<br />

source of supply:<br />

(a) Mechanical ventilation system <strong>for</strong> room hous<strong>in</strong>g fire<br />

pumps;<br />

(b) Mechanical ventilation system <strong>for</strong> smoke-stop / fire<br />

fight<strong>in</strong>g lobbies;<br />

(c) Underplat<strong>for</strong>m exhaust where required to operate dur<strong>in</strong>g<br />

a fire emergency;<br />

(d) Emergency ventilation system of underground or<br />

enclosed tra<strong>in</strong>way;<br />

(e) Emergency light<strong>in</strong>g of underground or enclosed<br />

tra<strong>in</strong>way; and<br />

(f) Exit signs of underground or enclosed tra<strong>in</strong>way.<br />

4.1.3.4 Where emergency generators are provided as a secondary<br />

source of supply, they shall comply with SS 535 Code of<br />

Practice <strong>for</strong> Installation, Operation, Ma<strong>in</strong>tenance, Per<strong>for</strong>mance<br />

and Constructional Requirements of Ma<strong>in</strong>s Failure Standby<br />

Generat<strong>in</strong>g <strong>Systems</strong>.<br />

4.1.3.5 Un<strong>in</strong>terruptible power supply (UPS) consist<strong>in</strong>g of centralised<br />

batteries can be considered as a secondary source of power<br />

supply.<br />
