ii) For stations not exceed<strong>in</strong>g the habitable height of<br />

10m, accessway will not be required. However,<br />

provision of fire eng<strong>in</strong>e access road hav<strong>in</strong>g<br />

m<strong>in</strong>imum 4m width <strong>for</strong> pump appliances will be<br />

required to with<strong>in</strong> a travel distance of 45m of<br />

every po<strong>in</strong>t on the projected plan area of the<br />

station.<br />

iii) For stations exceed<strong>in</strong>g the habitable height of<br />

10m, accessway shall be located directly below<br />

the access open<strong>in</strong>gs to provide direct outreach to<br />

the access open<strong>in</strong>gs. Accessway shall be provided<br />

based on the gross floor area (<strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g toilets,<br />

stores, circulation spaces, etc.) of the largest floor<br />

as follows:<br />

(b) i) The accessway shall have a m<strong>in</strong>imum width of<br />

6m throughout. Such accessway must be able to<br />

accommodate the entry and manoeuvr<strong>in</strong>g of fire<br />

eng<strong>in</strong>es, extended ladders, pump<strong>in</strong>g appliances,<br />

turntable and/or hydraulic plat<strong>for</strong>ms.<br />

ii) Accessway shall be positioned so that the nearer<br />

edge shall be not less than 2m or more than 10 m<br />

from the centre position of the access open<strong>in</strong>g,<br />

measured horizontally.<br />

iii) Accessway shall be metalled or paved or laid with<br />

strengthened per<strong>for</strong>ated slabs to withstand the<br />

load<strong>in</strong>g capacity of stationary 30 tonnes fire<br />

eng<strong>in</strong>e. [See APPENDIX E <strong>for</strong> additional<br />

<strong>in</strong><strong>for</strong>mation]<br />

iv) Accessway shall be laid on a level plat<strong>for</strong>m or if<br />

on an <strong>in</strong>cl<strong>in</strong>e, the gradient shall not exceed 1:15.<br />

v) Dead-end accessway and fire eng<strong>in</strong>e access road<br />

shall not exceed 46m <strong>in</strong> length or if exceed<strong>in</strong>g<br />

46m, be provided with turn<strong>in</strong>g facilities as shown<br />

<strong>in</strong> Diagram 2.4.2.4(b)(v)<br />
