vi) The outer radius <strong>for</strong> turn<strong>in</strong>g of access and fire<br />
eng<strong>in</strong>e access road shall comply with the<br />
requirements as shown <strong>in</strong> Diagram 2.4.2.4(b)(vi).<br />
vii) Overhead clearance of accessway and fire eng<strong>in</strong>e<br />
access road shall be at least 4.5m <strong>for</strong> passage of<br />
fire fight<strong>in</strong>g appliances.<br />
viii) Public roads can serve as accessway provided the<br />
location of such public roads is <strong>in</strong> compliance<br />
with the requirements of distance from access<br />
open<strong>in</strong>gs.<br />
ix) Accessway and fire eng<strong>in</strong>e access road shall be<br />
kept clear of obstructions and other parts of the<br />
station, plants, trees or other fixtures shall not<br />
obstruct the path between the accessway and<br />
access open<strong>in</strong>gs.<br />
(c) i) All corners of accessway shall be marked.<br />
ii) Mark<strong>in</strong>g of corners shall be <strong>in</strong> contrast<strong>in</strong>g colour<br />
to the ground surfaces or f<strong>in</strong>ishes.<br />
iii) Accessway provided on turfed area must be<br />
marked with contrast<strong>in</strong>g object (preferably<br />
reflective) that is visible at night.<br />
The mark<strong>in</strong>gs are to be at <strong>in</strong>tervals not more than<br />
3m apart and shall be provided on both sides of<br />
the accessway.<br />
iv) Sign post display<strong>in</strong>g the word<strong>in</strong>gs '<strong>Fire</strong> Eng<strong>in</strong>e<br />
Access - Keep Clear' shall be provided at the<br />
entrance of the accessway. Size of word<strong>in</strong>gs shall<br />
not be less than 50mm.<br />
2.4.3 ACCESS TO STATIONS WITH BREECHING INLETS<br />
Station fitted with ris<strong>in</strong>g ma<strong>in</strong>s and automatic spr<strong>in</strong>kler system<br />
shall have fire eng<strong>in</strong>e access roads <strong>for</strong> pump<strong>in</strong>g appliances<br />
with<strong>in</strong> 18m of the breech<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>lets. The breech<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>lets shall<br />
be visible from the fire eng<strong>in</strong>e access roads.<br />
