(6) Coordinate operations of national and international components of Red<br />

Cross/Red Crescent Movements, operating in disaster affected areas.<br />

(7) Coordinate with DM authorities and UN agencies for post disaster relief work.<br />

31. United Nations Agencies<br />

a. Emergency Preparedness<br />

(1) Allocate resources for disaster preparedness activities.<br />

(2) Coordinate with all UN agencies under One UN, in case of disaster.<br />

(3) Advocate for common humanitarian principles to the parties outside the IASC.<br />

(4) Facilitate and resolve disputes/disagreements about/between humanitarian<br />

agencies on system wide humanitarian issues.<br />

(5) Provide financial and technical support to the <strong>NDMA</strong>, PDMAs and DDMAs for<br />

formulation of disaster preparedness, relief and recovery.<br />

(6) Build capacity of <strong>NDMA</strong>, PDMAs and DDMAs on disaster preparedness,<br />

response and recovery.<br />

(7) Prepare inventory of UNO technical experts in different fields which can be<br />

deployed in <strong>NDMA</strong>, PDMAs, DDMAs, in case of disaster.<br />

(8) Carry out all DM related initiatives in concert with <strong>NDMA</strong>.<br />

(9) Undertake vulnerability and food security studies in disaster prone areas and<br />

share it with <strong>NDMA</strong>, PDMAs, DDMAs and design programme in the light of<br />

research studies.<br />

b. Emergency <strong>Response</strong><br />

(1) Designate a representative to the <strong>National</strong> EOC.<br />

(2) Provide relief goods through government and partner organizations.<br />

(3) Form thematic clusters according to the expertise and capacity of the<br />

humanitarian agency and organize cluster weekly meeting and update <strong>NDMA</strong>,<br />

PDMAs and DDMAs accordingly.<br />

(4) Conduct assessment in specific areas e.g. water/sanitation health, child<br />

protection, women issues in camps management, shelter, security, water and<br />

sanitation food security and response accordingly.<br />

(5) Organize and facilitate weekly coordination meetings for effective response.<br />

(6) Coordinate with <strong>NDMA</strong> and PDMAs and update them about the progress.<br />

(7) Conduct assessment for early recovery programme and share it with <strong>NDMA</strong>.
