(9) Incorporate lessons learnt in future planning.<br />
9. Works and Services Department<br />
a. Emergency Preparedness<br />
(1) Prepare a contingency plan for the department at district level.<br />
(2) Compile an inventory of assets e.g. equipment, machinery etc available with<br />
department at district level. Similar list pertaining to private sources to be made.<br />
(3) Identify potential disaster areas in the district. Formulate plan to deploy<br />
machinery.<br />
(4) Provide machinery and equipment to clear debris.<br />
b. Emergency <strong>Response</strong><br />
(1) Designate a representative to the DEOC.<br />
(2) Arrange damage assessment of roads, bridges and other infrastructure.<br />
(3) Deploy team to remove debris.<br />
(4) Facilitate Armed Forces to clear roads, remove debris and undertake<br />
restoration of infrastructure.<br />
10. Culture, Social Welfare and Tourism Department<br />
a. Emergency Preparedness<br />
(1) Finalize emergency preparedness plan.<br />
(2) Prepare hazard specific contingency plan and allocate resources for emergency<br />
preparedness and response activities.<br />
(3) Form a database of CBOs/NGOs, INGOs, UN, RSPs which may include, areas<br />
of operation, working thematic areas and human resources. Facilitate<br />
CBOs/NGOs, INGOs RSPs to draw up community-based disaster<br />
preparedness plans.<br />
(4) Develop training plans and programmes for local communities on preparedness<br />
and emergency response in partnership with INGOs, RSPs and local NGOs<br />
working in the district.<br />
(5) Organize training programmes on core issues (child protection, separated<br />
children care, rehabilitation of disabled persons, trauma and stress<br />
management).<br />
(6) Implementation of guidelines on child protection, special care, special education<br />
and rehabilitation of disabled persons in emergencies, prepared by the Ministry<br />
of Social Welfare and Special Education, Government of Pakistan.<br />
(7) Translate IEC material on child protection, care of separated children,<br />
reunification process and care of disabled person in emergencies in local<br />
language and disseminate widely in the district.<br />
(8) Compile inventory of government disability centre and schools in the district.
