8. Works and Services Department<br />
a. Emergency Preparedness<br />

(1) Finalize emergency preparedness plan.<br />
(2) Prepare hazard specific contingency plan.<br />
(3) Allocate resources for preparedness and emergency response activities.<br />
(4) Orient and train department staff for their role in emergency response.<br />
(5) Draw up checklist for infrastructure damage and loss assessment.<br />
(6) Develop guidelines for safer building construction and prescribe standards<br />
under national building codes.<br />
(7) Conduct training courses for builders, contractors and communities for safer<br />
construction.<br />
(8) Device monitoring system for the construction of public and private buildings.<br />
(9) Compile an inventory with specifications and location of heavy construction<br />
equipment in the province. Review it on six monthly basis and share with<br />
DDMAs, PDMA and <strong>NDMA</strong>.<br />
b. Emergency <strong>Response</strong><br />
(1) Designate a representative to the provincial EOC.<br />
(2) Conduct infrastructure loss and damage assessment and share it with DDMAs,<br />
PDMA and <strong>NDMA</strong>.<br />
(3) Provision of heavy machinery to the district department and district<br />
administration for clearing roads, debris etc.<br />
(4) Take steps to ensure speedy repair and restoration of transport links.<br />
(5) Coordinate with Armed Forces to get their help in restoration of roads and<br />
infrastructure e.g. bridges, clearing land slides and clearing road blocks etc.<br />
(6) Support PDMA and district administration by providing temporary structures in<br />
relief camps.<br />
(7) Organize repairs to the damaged public buildings and infrastructure for early<br />
recovery and rehabilitation.<br />
(8) Prepare a detailed report and disseminate it widely. Document lessons learnt<br />
from response experiences and incorporate same in future planning.<br />

a. Emergency Preparedness<br />
