(7) Assist fast track deployment of emergency vehicles by efficient traffic<br />
management.<br />
(8) Provide reflective lights / reflectors around the scene of incident at night, to<br />
facilitate the working of rescue workers, fire fighters etc.<br />
(9) Document lessons learnt from the experience. Share it with DDMA and<br />
provincial Police Department. Incorporate same in the future planning.<br />
12. Forest and Wild life Department<br />
a. Emergency Preparedness<br />
(1) Finalize emergency preparedness plan.<br />
(2) Prepare contingency plan for forest fire.<br />
(3) Allocate resources for preparedness and emergency response.<br />
(4) Draw up afforestation plan for the drought prone areas.<br />
(5) Identify geographical areas and forests which are more vulnerable to fire.<br />
(6) Coordination with irrigation department to promote plantation on protective<br />
embankments, irrigation canals, distributaries etc.<br />
(7) Encourage mangrove forestry. Support tree plantation initiatives in mountain<br />
areas.<br />
(8) Control grazing of animal in rangeland to prevent tree depletion. Implement<br />
programmes for conservation and rehabilitation of natural resources in order to<br />
reduce risks of natural hazards.<br />
(9) Facilitate the establishment of nurseries and tree plantations by community<br />
organizations and NGOs.<br />
b. Emergency <strong>Response</strong><br />
13. Food Department<br />
(1) Designate representative to the District EOC, if and when needed.<br />
(2) Conduct impact assessment of flood/cyclone on fisheries, wild life and<br />
mangroves forest.<br />
(3) Coordinate with fire fighting teams, in case of forest fire.<br />
(4) Control deforestation, <strong>Plan</strong>t new saplings in disaster prone areas.<br />
(5) Build capacity of staff at district level on disaster preparedness in wildlife sector.<br />
(6) Control grazing of animals in range land areas to prevent tree depletion.<br />
(7) Supply drought resistant seeds/plants of trees to farmers and communities.<br />
