. Emergency <strong>Response</strong><br />

(1) Designate a representative to the DEOC.<br />
(2) Arrange assessment of Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp situation and<br />
share it with humanitarian organization working in this area.<br />
(3) Register all affected people living in the camp. Distribute relief material and<br />
arrange medical facilities. Set up safe play areas for children.<br />
(4) Monitor protection issues in IDP Camps with particular focus on children and<br />
women.<br />
(5) Facilitate the humanitarian organizations working on core issues (child<br />
protection, disability, orphanages and separated children).<br />
(6) Coordinate with DDMA to ensure that needs of most vulnerable groups (e.g.<br />
minorities, disabled persons, elderly, widows etc) are addressed in emergency<br />
response.<br />
11. Police Department<br />
(7) Assist DDMA to manage relief camps, undertake relief distribution and carry out<br />
early recovery assessment.<br />
(8) Document lessons learnt from the response experiences and share it with all<br />
stakeholders including DDMA and provincial, culture, social welfare and tourism<br />
departments. Incorporate the same in future planning.<br />
a. Emergency Preparedness<br />
(1) Finalize emergency preparedness plan.<br />
(2) Prepare hazard specific contingency plan for department at district level.<br />
(3) Allocate resources for preparedness and emergency response activities.<br />
(4) Draw up security plan for evacuation serials, ware houses, relief camps, relief<br />
centres, distribution points and public/private property for any potential disaster<br />
in the district and share it with DDMA.<br />
(5) Provide assistance in emergency warning, relief and evacuation operations.<br />
(6) Organize periodical training courses on role of police in emergency response.<br />
(7) Repair and replace damaged / defective equipment to ensure complete<br />
preparedness.<br />
b. Emergency <strong>Response</strong><br />
(1) Designate a representative to the District OEC.<br />
(2) Assist district administration in evacuation.<br />
(3) Maintain law and order in emergency response.<br />
(4) Monitor and maintain normalcy in the relief camps.<br />
(5) Arrange adequate police cover for the humanitarian organizations, embassy<br />
representatives, UN officials, dignitaries etc.
