(6) Coordinate with DDMA for contingency planning.<br />
(7) Draw up list of local supplier of stationery, school text books and material at<br />
district level and share it with DDMA.<br />
b. Emergency <strong>Response</strong><br />
(1) Designate a representative to the DEOC.<br />
(2) Conduct assessment of the school conditions. Prepare plans for fast track<br />
rehabilitation.<br />
(3) Deploy volunteer teachers and students to assist DDMA in emergency<br />
response.<br />
(4) Organize volunteer teachers and students to assist in distribution of relief goods<br />
in the local areas.<br />
(5) Continue education of children using mobile/tent schools.<br />
6. Agriculture Department<br />
a. Emergency Preparedness<br />
(1) Finalize emergency preparedness plan.<br />
(2) Prepare hazard specific contingency plan and allocate resources for emergency<br />
preparedness and response activities.<br />
(3) Hold meetings with farmer community in the field with a view to highlight<br />
benefits of crops insurance in relation to disasters.<br />
(4) Device early warning indicators on drought with local farmers, based on<br />
indigenous knowledge and practices.<br />
(5) Develop early warning information dissemination mechanism on drought<br />
situation well in advance for farmer community.<br />
(6) Organize training for different sections of agriculture department‟s staff on<br />
emergency preparedness and response.<br />
(7) Compile an inventory of equipment, human resources, vehicles, and a list of<br />
agriculture inputs suppliers. Update it on six monthly basis and share this with<br />
the DDMA.<br />
(8) Conduct training on pest and locust attack.<br />
(9) Promote new variety of flood and drought resistant seeds and fodder crops.<br />
(10) Disseminate IEC material on disaster risk management for extension,<br />
community workers and farmers community.<br />
b. Emergency <strong>Response</strong><br />
(1) Designate a representative to the DEOC.<br />
(2) Conduct initial rapid assessment to assess damage to the agriculture crops.<br />
(3) Render agriculture machinery to farmers for protection of crops.
