Save and activate your changes.<br />

a) To change the values of individual parameters, select the<br />

corresponding profile (default or instance profile) and change<br />

this in Extended Maintenance.<br />

If no Change button is displayed, choose Display Change to<br />

switch to change mode. Select the desired parameter and choose<br />

Change or double click the relevant parameter.<br />

After making your changes, choose Copy and then Save. Then,in<br />

the list view, choose Copy and then Back. Save the new version<br />

of the profile and confirm the activation of the profile in the<br />

dialog box.<br />

To create a new parameter, choose Create under Extended<br />

Maintenance.<br />

The required parameters are listed below:<br />

• rdisp/max_alt_modes (default profile)<br />

• rdisp/wp_no_dia (instance profile)<br />

3. Check your changes in the system. To do this, log on to the system<br />

again and check the number of work processes in the process<br />

overview.<br />

a) Call the logon screen using <strong>SAP</strong> Logon. Check that your selected<br />

logon client is entered. Check the number of processes by calling<br />

the server overview (Tools → Administration → Monitor → System<br />

Monitoring→ Servers, transaction SM51), selecting the dialog<br />

instance, and then choosing Processes.<br />

4. i) Check your changes in the profile files at operating system level.<br />

ii) What must you still do, so that your changes take effect in the<br />

system?<br />

a) Open the profile files at operating system level with an editor<br />

and use this to view the changes that have been made.<br />

b) Your changes to profile parameters will only take effect after a<br />

restart of the affected instance or the entire system.<br />

Task 3 Activating the Changed Profile Parameters<br />

Check the changed system parameters after a system restart.<br />

1. Restart the system so that your changes become active.<br />

a) Logontoyourserverinthesamewayasyoudidintheexercises<br />

for the Starting and Stopping unit, and restart the system.<br />
