Task 1 Create a Remote Connection<br />

Set up a remote connection.<br />

1. You are to set up a remote connection to the second system on your<br />

server, to client 100.<br />

Result<br />

The group that is using the DEV system sets up a connection to the<br />

QAS system.<br />

The group that is using the QAS system sets up a connection to the<br />

DEV system.<br />

from your partner group.<br />

a) To set up a remote connection, switch to the window Display and<br />

Maintain RFC Destinations. To do this, choose Administration →<br />

Administration → Network → RFC Destination (transaction SM59)<br />

and choose Create. Enter a name for the destination (such as<br />

_DATA, the connection type 3, and a short description.<br />

Choose Save.<br />

Under Technical Settings, enter the name of the host in the Target<br />

host field, and the instance number of the target system (your<br />

partner group’s system) in the System number field.<br />

On the Logon/Security tab page, enter client 100 and the user for<br />

the remote system with its password that you received from<br />

your partner group.<br />

You have created an RFC connection.<br />

Task 2 Test the Remote Connection<br />

Test the remote connection that you have created<br />

1. Test the connection.<br />

a) Choose Test Connection. The system attempts to create a<br />

connection to the remote system, and, if the connection is<br />

correctly set up and the target system is accessible, displays a<br />

list of response times.<br />
