Lesson:
Configuring SAP Logon
Lesson Duration: 35 minutes
Lesson Overview
In this lesson, you will learn how to configure the SAP Logon program.
The concept of logon groups will also be introduced.
Lesson Objectives
After completing this lesson, you will be able to:
• Set up the SAP Logon program
• Explain the use of logon groups
Since the SAP Logon program is required to access the training systems,
you should also demonstrate setting it up. Transaction SMLG is used in
the exercises, and should therefore also be demonstrated.
Business Example
You want to use logon groups to restrict user logons to certain application
servers of your system.
SettingUpSAPLogon
Most participants will presumably already be familiar with using SAP
Logon. You can demonstrate, for example, the additional functions
available under Options here. You could also explain the role of the file
saplogon.ini and of the program saplgpad.exe in more detail at this point.
The SAP Logon program provides users with a convenient logon to an
SAP system with the SAP GUI for Windows (from Windows-based front
ends). SAP Logon evaluates various configuration files that are stored on
the front end. These files can also be edited using SAP Logon.
