2. Set the trace level for front end printing to 1.<br />

a) On the initial screen of transaction SPAD, choose Settings →<br />

Spool System. OntheFrontend Prnt. tab page, set the Trace level<br />

for frontend printing to 1. For more detailed information, see the<br />

lesson, section “Activating the Trace”<br />

3. Activate the trace for your user adm (using an entry in the User<br />

variables for adm, not in the System variables)forLPRINTG.DLL,<br />

by creating a new environment variable.<br />

a) Activate the trace for LPRINTG.DLL by setting the environment<br />

variable DPTRACE to 3. With Microsoft Windows 2000, you set<br />

environment variables under Start → Settings → Control Panel<br />

→ System → Control Panel. OntheAdvanced tab page, choose<br />

Environment Variables.... Choose New... under User variables and<br />

enter the above values. After setting the environment variable,<br />

you must close and then restart <strong>SAP</strong> Logon. The trace output<br />

is written to the file lprintg.log, which is usually in the<br />

<strong>SAP</strong>workdir directory of your front end.<br />

4. For your user adm, set the environment variable LPRINT_PORT<br />

depending on your (User variables for adm, not System<br />

variables). If your =DEV, set the variable to 516. If your<br />

=QAS, set the variable to 517.<br />

This sets the port at which <strong>SAP</strong>LPD listens from the standard value to<br />

a different free value. This means that it is possible for two <strong>SAP</strong>LPDs<br />

to run independently of each other (one for each group).<br />

a) With Microsoft Windows 2000, you set environment variables<br />

under Start → Settings → Control Panel → System → Control<br />

Panel. OntheAdvanced tab page, choose Environment Variables....<br />

Choose New... under User variables and enter LPRINT_PORT and<br />

set the value to 516 if you are administering the DEV system<br />

or 517 if you are administering the QAS system. After setting<br />

the environment variable, you must close and then restart <strong>SAP</strong><br />

Logon.<br />

5. Close all <strong>SAP</strong> GUIs and <strong>SAP</strong> Logon.<br />
