Unit 1
1 Fundamentals
This unit acts primarily as a short repetition of the contents of the SAPTEC
course (the exception to this is the lesson “Configuring SAP Logon”). You
should go into more or less detail in the individual lessons, depending on
the participants’ level of knowledge.
Unit Overview
Basic terms and processes will be introduced in this unit, as well as the
structure and architecture of an SAP system.
In addition to the process of a system logon, you will learn how to set up
SAP Logon and how to use a range of important analysis transactions.
Unit Objectives
After completing this unit, you will be able to:
• Outline the structure and architecture of an SAP system
• List the technical components of the SAP Web Application Server
• Use the terms system and instance correctly
• Describe the process of a system logon
• Describe the technology for dialog work process multiplexing
• Set up the SAP Logon program
• Explain the use of logon groups
• Call central administration functions in the system
