Exercise Objectives
After completing this exercise, you will be able to:
• Check basic Customizing settings for SAP data archiving
• Schedule and monitor a simple archiving run
Business Example
Your company uses SAP data archiving to reduce the size of the database
for the SAP system and therefore to be able to ensure good response times
long-term. As a member of the system administration team, it is your
task to schedule an archiving run.
System Data
System: Dependsonthecoursesetupinuse. AnSAP
system with SAP Web AS 6.20 is required.
Client: Dependsonthecoursesetupinuse.Forcourse
ADM100: client 100. Completed work items that can be archived must
be available in this client. In the setup for course ADM100, a completed
employee leave request is available.
User ID: Depends on the course setup in use. A course
user with authorization to execute transactions SARA, DB15, FILE, and
SM37 is required. For course ADM100, the ADM100-## users (where ##
corresponds to the group number) have the required authorizations.
Password: Depends on the user used. The ADM100-## users
have the initial password init.
Set up instructions:
1. There must be a work item to be archived available in the client for
each participant group. In the setup for the ADM100 course, each
group has a separate SAP system. In this setup, an employee leave
request can be archived.
Task 1 Check Archiving Object
To prepare an archiving run, determine which database tables are
associated with which archiving object.
1. Check the tables from which data is archived for the archiving object
Workitem.
