ADM100 Lesson: Accessing Archived Data
Note: By default, there is a technical view for every archiving
object. Whether an application-specific view is provided depends
on whether a view of this type was implemented for this archiving
object. You can also use the demonstration described in the last
instructor note in this lesson to differentiate between the technical
view and application-oriented view.
At the end of this lesson, you can demonstrate that you can display the
archived data in different ways: on one hand, directly from transaction
SARA or transaction SARI , and on the other from an application
transaction:
On the initial screen of transaction SARA, enter the object name WORKITEM,
press Enter, andchooseRead. On the next screen, choose Execute. Then
select the file to be read, and choose Continue. The system displays a tree
structure that you can expand. In this way, you can obtain an overview of
the archived work item for the employee leave request. Note the number
of an archived work item (such as “0000000001”, the leading numbers are
also important, as the work item number is always 10 digits in length) and
the date of the processing of the work item (such as “January 24 2003”).
You can optionally also choose the Archive Explorer button on the initial
screen of transaction SARI to demonstrate the display of archived data
using the SAP Archive Information System. On the next screen, select
the archiving object WORKITEM and choose a valid entry for the archive
information structure. Then choose Report. On the next screen, accept the
default settings and choose Execute. In the list that is displayed, select
the first entry by double clicking it. The system displays an overview of
the tables that belong to the selected object. You can optionally also view
the archived data from a table by clicking the icon next to the relevant
table name.
You can obtain a different - application oriented - view of the archived data
by calling the transaction Read Workflows from Archive (transaction code
SWW_ARCHIV). In this way, you simulate an end user that is searching
for a particular workflow. In the Object Type field, enter FORMABSENC (for
Form: Absence). Use the input help to select an appropriate Object Key (or
- if this is not possible - enter the number from the previous demo here,
including the leading zeros), select an appropriate Period (this refers to the
processing day of the workflow and not the day of archiving, ensure that
the day noted from the previous demo is included) and choose Execute.
Then select a file and choose Continue. You may have to select one of the
IDs on the following screen and choose Copy. As a result, the system
displays a specific workflow log that has already been archived.
