In this lesson, you will learn about event-based scheduling of jobs.
Lesson Objectives
After completing this lesson, you will be able to:
• Schedule event-dependent jobs
• Define and trigger events
Briefly introduce the different event-dependent scheduling options.
Explain the meaning of the parameter rdisp/btcname, and why it should, if
possible, point to a high-availability instance, that is, the central instance.
Demonstrate transactions SM62 and SM64 in the system, and, if
appropriate, you can also display the listed function modules. Create an
event with or without parameters, and schedule a job for this event. Trigger
the event, and use transaction SM37 to check the execution of the job.
Business Example
The administrator schedules background jobs and monitors the correct
process of the system’s background processing.
Event-Based Scheduling
An event is a signal to the background processing system that a particular
status has been achieved in the SAP system. The background processing
system receives events and then starts all jobs that are linked to this event.
