Lesson Overview<br />

Sensitive business data should always be exchanged using only encrypted<br />

data lines. In this lesson, you will learn about various security measures<br />

for an <strong>SAP</strong> system.<br />

Lesson Objectives<br />

After completing this lesson, you will be able to:<br />

• Evaluate basic security aspects of an <strong>SAP</strong> system<br />

• List system parameters that affect security settings in clients or in<br />

the system<br />

• List implementation areas of Secure Network Communication (SNC),<br />

Secure Socket Layer (SSL), and Secure Store and Forward (SSF)<br />

• Describe <strong>SAP</strong>router in detail<br />

• Describe a central administration server<br />

Explain the importance of security measures in the <strong>SAP</strong> environment<br />

in particular, and for IT in general. You may want to refer to actual<br />

cases, which should be documented in the Internet, that illustrate the<br />

consequences that a lack of security awareness can have.<br />

Business Example<br />

You are to implement a security concept in your company, which is<br />

to protect your <strong>SAP</strong> systems against hacker attacks and ensure secure<br />

operation of an online store using an <strong>SAP</strong> ITS.<br />

Clients and Superusers<br />

Encryption mechanisms, system-side security settings and <strong>SAP</strong>router<br />

software are some of the components that support you in implementing<br />

your security concept.<br />
