Exercise Objectives<br />

After completing this exercise, you will be able to:<br />

• Set up a dynamic switch of work process types using operation modes<br />

Business Example<br />

The configuration of the work processes using the profiles usually meets<br />

the requirements for day operation. The administrator can use operation<br />

modes to optimize the performance of the system for the different<br />

requirements during the day and during the night.<br />

Task 1 Create Operation Modes<br />

Create operation modes. To do this, use transaction RZ04 to perform the<br />

following steps.<br />

1. Create two operation modes, “Day” and “Night”.<br />

2. Now create a definition for the work process distribution for all<br />

instances of your system.<br />

3. Change the distribution of the work processes of your instances for<br />

each of the operation modes.<br />

Note that there should be at least two dialog and two background<br />

work processes in all operation modes.<br />

Schedule the operation modes that you have created.<br />

1. Schedule the operation modes that you have created in the timetable<br />

for normal operation.<br />

Task 3 Manual Switch of Operation Modes<br />

1. To observe the change in work process distribution when the<br />

operation mode is switched, switch to the “Night” operation mode<br />

manually in the Control Panel.<br />
