Unit 7: Working with the Transport System ADM100
• Adjusting the repository with customer enhancements. In this case,
customer objects are added to the repository. The SAP standard
programs can be extended with customer objects at specified points
in the coding, called “Customer Exits”.
• Modifications to the standard SAP system: Changes to SAP objects
(programs, table definitions) are described as modification. The
repository delivered by SAP is not only extended, but changed.
Three-System Landscape
You can explain the need for a three-system landscape using the data
structure of an SAP system: since the object repository only exists once for
each system, customers must never develop in the production system.
You should explain the role of the different systems, and discuss what the
different clients are required for, and when it would be useful to use them.
SAP’s recommendation for a three-system landscape is based on the data
structure of an SAP system, in which the object repository only exists once.
You must never develop and work productively in the same SAP system.
Figure 67: The Three-System Landscape
You can illustrate a three-system landscape at this point, using either the
figure or the system itself. In the system: Call transaction STMS, choose
the System Overview button, and the Transport Routes button.
