Task 1 Schedule an External Program<br />

Schedule an external program.<br />

1. Define the job WHOAMI_##, where ## is your group number. The job<br />

should have the following properties:<br />

Job class C<br />

Execution of the external program whoami (check the control flags<br />

for this)<br />

Start in 2 minutes (referring to system time)<br />

Check whether the job was successfully processed.<br />

a) In transaction SM36, enter the job name WHOAMI_##, selectjob<br />

class C and leave the execution target field empty.<br />

Choose Step. On the next screen, choose External Program and<br />

enter the program name whoami without parameters. Enter the<br />

name of your own host as the target host. Check the Control<br />

flags and save the default values. Save your step.<br />

Return to the initial screen of the transaction and choose<br />

Start Condition. ChooseDate/Time and enter a time that is<br />

approximately two minutes in the future and save the start time<br />

values. Then save your job. The system displays a message in<br />

the status line that your job was saved with the status: released.<br />

Check in transaction SM37 whether your job was successfully<br />

processed. To do this, display the job log for the job.<br />

Task 2 External Command (Optional)<br />

Schedule a job that executes an external command as a job step.<br />

1. Display a list of external commands. What does the command<br />

ZKERNEL do?<br />

a) To display a list of external commands, choose Tools → CCMS →<br />

Jobs → External Commands (transaction SM49) from the <strong>SAP</strong> Easy<br />

Access menu. ). To execute a command from this list, select the<br />

command, and choose Execute. On the following screen, you can<br />

specify a target host. Choose Execute again.<br />

The external command ZKERNEL displays information about<br />

the kernel (disp+work).<br />
