Unit 8: Support Packages, Plug-Ins, and Add-Ons ADM100
Figure 78: SPAM: Loading Support Packages
Where can you obtain Support Packages? Explain that loading them from
SAPNet - R/3 Frontend (previously OSS) no longer has any practical
meaning, as almost all of the Support Packages as of SAP R/3 4.0 are “extra
large” and therefore cannot be downloaded (they are locked in OSS).
After the Support Packages have, for example, been loaded from the SAP
ServiceMarketplace,theymustbeunpackedwithSAPCAR andplacedin
the directory \usr\sap\trans\EPS\in.
chronological order. In the following figures, the section being discussed
is always highlighted, to provide participants with an overview of the
process.
Before you can import Support Packages, you must first load the relevant
Support Packages. SAP provides Support Packages in the SAPNet - R/3
Frontend (previously OSS), on the SAP Service Marketplace, and on
Collection CDs (not always absolutely up-to-date).
SAPNet – R/3 Frontend: Before loading a Support Package from the
SAPNet - R/3 Frontend, maintain the network parameters for logging on
to the SAPNet - R/3 Frontend. Use transaction OSS1 to do this.
1. Request the desired Support Packages in the SAPNet - R/3 Frontend.
