SAP recommends using a central SAP Web AS of this type (at least SAP
Web AS 6.10, but better if it is always the newest system, if possible
implemented as a standalone system). It is intended that this will become
mandatory for all customers at some point in the future.
The centrally administered function is partly backward compatible,
depending on availability.
The central SAP Web AS does not need to run on a separate host, although
this is perhaps advisable for performance reasons.
We recommend that you set up a separate SAP Web AS for every SAP
system landscape. This SAP Web AS should have as high a release status as
possible, but at least SAP Web AS 6.10, and should be used for monitoring,
alerts, transport organization, and Central User Administration (CUA).
