Exercise Objectives<br />

After completing this exercise, you will be able to:<br />

• Use trace options in the <strong>SAP</strong> system if errors occur to analyze the<br />

problem<br />

• Use the transactions for the various trace functions<br />

Business Example<br />

You want to use trace functions in the <strong>SAP</strong> system to correct errors.<br />

System Data<br />

System: Dependsonthecoursesetupinuse. An<strong>SAP</strong><br />

system with <strong>SAP</strong> Web AS 6.20 is required.<br />

Client: Dependsonthecoursesetupinuse.Forcourse<br />

ADM100: client 100.<br />

User ID: Depends on the course setup in use. A course<br />

user with authorization to execute transactions ST01, ST05, SM21, ST22,<br />

and AL11 is required. For course ADM100, the ADM100-## users (where<br />

## corresponds to the group number) have the required authorizations.<br />

Password: Depends on the user used. The ADM100-## users<br />

have the initial password init.<br />

Set up instructions:<br />

1. The user requires authorizations to execute transactions ST01, ST05,<br />

SM21, ST22 und AL11.<br />

Task 1 Traces<br />

Activate traces in the <strong>SAP</strong> system and evaluate them. Generate a short<br />

dump in the system and analyze it.<br />

1. In transaction ST01, activate the trace for authorization checks, RFC<br />

calls, and for lock operations for your user. Start the transaction for<br />

user maintenance SU01 and change the title for your own user.<br />

2. Deactivate the trace again and evaluate the trace file.<br />

3. In transaction ST05, activate the SQL trace for your user. Start<br />

transaction SA38 and run program RSUSR000. Deactivate the trace<br />

again and evaluate it.<br />
