DDNS update style
There are currently two DNS update patterns available: the ad-hoc DNS update mode (ad-hoc) and
the interim DHCP-DNS interaction draft update mode (interim). The ad-hoc mode is now outdated
and should no longer be used. Attention:
This setting is evaluated once by the DHCP service when importing the configuration. It is thus not
possible to stipulate the update style for each client individually.
DDNS Forward Updates
If the True value is selected, the DHCP service updates the DNS computer entry (A record) if a DHCP
client requests or renews a lease. No update is performed if the setting is set to false. This input
only applies when DNS updates are activated and the DDNS update style is set to interim. DDNS
forward updates are performed as standard.
Update static leases
If the True value is selected, the DHCP service performs DNS updates, even when they are assigned
a static IP address. No update is performed if the setting is set to false. This input only applies when
DNS updates are activated and the DDNS Update Stil is set to interim.
Client updates
When the Allow value is selected, the DHCP service notes the intention of the DHCP client to update
its own DNS computer entry (A record). This input only applies when DNS updates are activated and
the DDNS Update Stil is set to interim.
’[DHCP lease time]’ time
Default lease time
If the client does not ask for a specified lease time it will be assigned the standard lease time. If this
input field is left empty, the DHCP server’s default value is used. That is 43200 seconds (12 hours).
Maximum lease time
The maximum lease time specifies the longest period of time for which a lease can be granted. If this
input field is left empty, the DHCP server’s default value is used. That is 86400 seconds (24 hours).
Minimum lease time
The minimum lease time specifies the shortest time for which a lease can be valid. If this input field
is left empty, the DHCP server’s default value is used. That is one second.
