Figure 4.2: Start page 4.2 Instructions for Operating the Program Univention Directory Manager is optimised for the application of web browsers which support JavaScript. This is why the manual on hand assumes in its illustrations and descriptions that a graphic browser with activated JavaScript functionality is used. Without activated JavaScript functionality, some of the functions are not executed automatically, which will result in deviations in the program’s operations. Input fields in Univention Directory Manager, which are marked by an asterisk (*) are compulsory, all the other fields are optional. Unless otherwise indicated, all characters are permitted, including < and >, ä, ö, ü, and ß. 44
Figure 4.3: Automatic log-out after time-out 4.2 Instructions for Operating the Program In list fields, the [Ctrl] and [Shift] keys, arrow keys, as well as the mouse can be used for selecting multiple entries at the same time. 4.2.1 Notes on list fields Among the entry fields of Univention Directory Manager there are special list fields which are applied whenever there is a choice of one or multiple values to be entered. Illustration 4.4 shows an example for a list field including a description of its functions. In the entry field (➊ in Illustration 4.4), the desired value can be entered and accepted by clicking the [+] button ➋. The value will then be displayed in the list field Entries ➌. There are several variants of list fields which differ in the type of the entry field ➊. Instead of a single entry field, several entry fields can also be displayed. Furthermore, select lists or combinations of entry fields and select lists can be used. The behaviour of the list fields is the same in all these variants. In some cases it might be necessary to bring the entries of a list field into a certain order. After having been selected by a single mouse click, the relevant entry can be moved up and down within the list via the buttons [△] ➍ and [▽] ➎. 45
